Review of Fisher-Price Swing N Glider - Cuddle Bunny

I am a first time Mom and my baby girl is 6 weeks old.I was looking for something to soothe her during her fussy times...usually in the evening.Well...she absolutely loves this swing. We mostly use it in glide mode (which is simple to switch back and forth from). She likes to just hang out in it and look around and if she is tired she goes to sleep pretty quickly. She looks so comfortable in it...I wish I had one for me.
Our friends loaned us a swing when we first got home but it was too fast and rough. This is great on the slowest mode and I imaging as she gets a bit older we can use the faster speeds.
Plug in is great...save on batteries!

Review of Graco Silhouette Infant Swing, Milan

I was very excited to receive this swing. Once out of the box, it took a little while to assemble. After assembly we turned it on only to notice that it was defective. First of all, the battery compartment is on the inner side of the swing. When the swing is on, the swing scrapes against the battery compartment which slows the swing down or stops it all together. Secondly, the dial on that controls the swing was shorted out. If you hit it the light flickers and it comes on. But it will turn off again if lightly bumped. This was surely a defective swing. I wanted another one sent, but Amazon will only give me a refund. I am very disappointed since I am overseas and it is difficult for me to get to the post office and ship and receive things and it takes a long while to get anything.

Review of Boppy Rock in Comfort Swing

This swing arrived quickly and when I took it out of the box I knew right away that I would love it. It has great features to it that is hard to find in other swings. I love the quiet motor and the melodies. The fabric in the seat is very very soft and it made me wish I was a baby again just so I could sleep in it. There isnt anything wrong with this product and I was able to easily put it together in less then 5 minutes.

Review of Little Tikes 2 in 1 Snug N Secure Swing

This swing is loads of fun!!!Seems very safe & secure =).Someone stated that this seat has been recalled... uhm, the ones that were recalled were sold @ juvenile product and toy stores nationwide, from December 2000 through September 2001.So it is obvious the current swings are NOT part of the recall!! Many car seats, baby swings, cribs, etc. are recalled, yet the updated or fixed versions prove to be safer once fixed. The recalled swing has not been made for 9-10 YEARS.Obviously if you buy or are given an older used one, you must check it to see if it is a recalled one.

Review of Disney Baby All-in-One Swing Featuring Pooh Characters, Ambrosia

This was given to us as a shower gift. It is very sturdy and attractive in appearance. My son loves to swing in it. The only complaint I have is that the speeds are not all that different. You adjust the speed level all the way up and there's not really a noticeable difference from speed 1. The music and sounds are nice, but I wish they would play just a little bit longer than they do. Otherwise, this is a great swing.

Review of Graco Swing n' Bounce Infant Swing

I got this swing about a month ago, and have been very pleased thus far. My apartment isn't very big, so I LOVE that it combines a bouncy chair and swing in one, so I don't always have those separate items taking up space. My two month old really digs looking up at himself in the overhead mirror. . . but the little monkeys that hang next to it are quite lame in my opinion.

If I had designed the swing, things I would have done differently:I would have made it so the toys on the tray wouldn't interfere with opening the tray fully when removing the child (in the fully reclined position when you go to open the tray, one of the toys hits the side of the swing so you can't open it completely, giving you less room to maneuver the baby in/out).I would also have liked the upper toys and mirror to be on an arm that you could move out of the way when getting the baby out.As it is, it can be a little tricky getting him out especially, without hitting his head on something. It would have been nice if the overhead toys weren't quite so high up for when the baby's in the swing, so he could try to play with them instead of just look at them.Lastly, I don't like that the music cycles through all the different songs.I'd prefer to be able to choose which song/songs to listen to instead of being locked in to having them all play.

Those things aside, I really do love the swing! It runs great, I like the safari themed toys and fabric, and again, I am really pleased with the bouncy chair/swing combo.Having all sorts of options between using the swing and vibration is awesome!!And it's nice that if he's in the swing and I want to bring him with me to another room it's super easy to detach the chair, and it's just as easy to put it back on.

Also, I'm glad that it has a 5 point harness.Currently my boy doesn't move around all that much so it's not so necessary now, but as he gets bigger and more mobile, I like that I'll be able to strap him in securely so I won't worry about him toppling out somehow.

Review of Fisher-Price Ocean Wonders Aquarium Cradle Swing

My wife and I just retired our Ocean Wonders swing now that our son has outgrown it and I think that we all felt that it was tough to see it go back into the box. We found that a swing is invaluable for a baby for several reasons:
1. The swing really soothed our son and helped him fall asleep and establish a daily nap schedule.
2. Sometimes you need to restrain your little one while you do something frivolous for yourself like, oh I don't know - eat. But if he or she isn't strong enough to sit in a pack n play, then a swing fits the bill well.
3. If the swing has a mobile or some other point of interest attached, then your baby can begin learning to focus on, follow and reach for objects while playing in the swing.

So now that we've established that a swing is mandatory baby gear, how does the Ocean Wonders rate? Very well except for a few minor points.

PROS
* Very sturdy and durable
* Really good activities above and in front of baby keep him/her happy and interested
* Multiple seat settings, both in terms of recline and in terms of the swing direction, i.e. front-to-back vs. side-to-side. This second point is surprisingly rare in swings, but you want to have all options when your feeling out your baby's preferences.
* Good battery life - we went almost two months between changes using it daily

CONS
* LOUD motor - you get used to it after a while as it's almost hypnotic, but when we first turned ours on, I thought that we must have gotten a defective one. After going back to the store and hearing the display (it hadn't had batteries when we initially bought), we realized that that's just how it is. It's comparable volume-wise to an average dishwasher running.
* Baby will have to grow into it. Like so many baby items, this one goes too far on the low end of the recommended age. Smaller babies will be moving too fast even on the slowest settings.
* The sturdiness comes at a cost in terms of size - it takes up a pretty good size footprint. We recouped some space by storing baby items underneath it where there was plenty of clearance space.

All in all, this was a great swing. I suspect that even the cons that I've noted above would apply to many of the other models on the market.

Review of Fisher-Price Open Top Take-Along Swing with Music & Mobile - Rainforest

We really like this swing. The new, improved model is solid, stable, cute and our baby appears to be quite comfortable in it. However, please note that the picture of the folded-up swing on the box is somewhat deceptive. The picture indicates that the swing folds up much more compactly (third picture under "other views" here on Amazon) than it actually does (second picture here on Amazon). We bought this in a store, had only the pictures on the box to go by and put it together only to find that it didn't fold up as small as the picture on the box suggests. It still easily fits in the trunk of our compact car, but doesn't leave as much room for other things as I'd have hoped.

Review of Fisher-Price Take Along Swing- Woodlands

We're short on space but have a 2 week old who needed some swinging. We got this swing since we had given away the enormous Graco monster that had been our daughter's. When I set up the swing I popped our son into it and he fell asleep within 2 minutes. We set it on its fastest speed, which honestly isn't too shabby. I detect no difference between this one and the fastest speed on the 6 speed Graco we had. This takes 4 C batteries which will be less expensive than the Ds required by the larger swings too. My only complaint is that the tray included on the full size swings would be very handy to have, but otherwise this is a great swing. We never used the music function or the mobile on the full sized swing so those are not missed on this one. It's excellent if you have a tiny house or are on a budget, which is the case with us.

EDIT to add that our 2 1/2 year old daughter has decided to make use of this swing as well, and has been climbing into it and swinging herself with her feet when it isn't turned on. She's over 25 pounds which is the weight limit, but the swing has shown no trouble supporting her.

Review of Boppy Rock in Comfort Travel Swing - Pink

I'd done some research, and trusted the Boppy brand enough to purchase this swing, even with it's somewhat costly price tag and some sub-par reviews I'd read.(Plus it was on sale.)

There does appear to be a design flaw with the way the child's head rests in the swing. The fabric wrapped around the frame leaves an almost fold in the seat, right at the neck, so baby's head cocks off to one side or the other, or tips the chin onto the chest, potentially restricting airflow.Mind you this is still a concern even when the head support provided has been removed.(This can be compensated for with blankets beneath the child, but then the restraints are not nearly as functional.)This appears as though it may reslove itself once a child grows into it a bit.(3 months, 12 lbs currently.)

Battery life seems fine.Swing motor is not silent, but the slight sound it makes is an almost soothing white noise.Music is nothing special...but we didn't buy it for the music.

Wish the toy bar could be repositioned silently. If she's asleep and we need to take her out and move her to her crib, the toy bar being pushed out of the way often wakes her.

I bought this for it's compact size, both for portability within the home and for travel, and it does fold almost flat for easy storage. But it seems a bit flimsy, and wobbles in all of the joints. Not so much that we'll stop using it, but enough that I'd think twice before paying this much for another one if I had it all to do over again.

Regardless of these small details, my daughter still is quite content with this swing, and I will continue to use it until she outgrows it.

Review of Graco Lovin Hug Open TopSwing with Vibration

I received this swing as a gift. After putting it together, I realized that the tray was entirely in the way and was totally unnecessary for my 2-week old daughter so removed the piece. I'd recommend not placing the tray onto the swing until you actually need it, otherwise it's rather difficult to place the baby in or take out of the swing. The only reason I don't give a 5-star for the product because I think it's way too big for a newborn or little baby. It does take me a few minutes to adjust everything around her and if she's already crying, it's hard to calm her in the swing. I can however see how a larger baby can enjoy the swing more, hope to see what happens when my daughter gets bigger.

Review of Graco Sweetpeace Newborn Soothing Center

I have owned and used the Sweetpeace for a little over three months now, waiting to write a review until I got to know it well.

I have a ten-year-old son. When I entered the market for baby products once again in 2008, I was amazed at how much more complicated things were. When a simple, battery powered open-top swing was the best you could get in 1998, a "Soothing Center" that promised everything next to changing the baby's diaper was on the market now!I was cynical about it all, but must admit that many of the features on this product claimed to make improvements to issues that I remembered learning by trial and error with baby #1 could use improvement.I decided to try it out as the one big nicety of my baby gear shopping.

First of all, the pros:

~ To address other reviews, I hear no difference between the motor noise on this and what I remember my battery powered Graco open-top swing sounding like.If it uses electricity, it will make some type of sound.Perhaps varying factors could affect this, I don't know, but mine is almost silent.

~ I find the music/white noise sounds to be wonderful; rich in sound with decent variation in selection.Someone mentioned as a con to this product that "Flight of the Bumblebee" (one of the song choices) was not a soothing song.It isn't supposed to be; despite the name of the product, not everything on it is there to lull a baby. There are two music buttons. One has slow, soothing music. The other plays upbeat, fun songs which one would use at a non-sleeping time (unless your kid can sleep through anything, like mine thus far).

~ Some have mentioned the volume being only a choice between loud and louder.I disagree! The lowest setting is hard for me to hear it on (and yes, even when my ten-year-old is away at school)! The loud is LOUD, though.Probably too loud for baby when IN the seat. But I've played baby's music for her while we play, and MY music through it while I clean. The sound is clear and rich...almost Bose worthy.

~ The white noise button has fantastic detail. For example, the mother's heartbeat choice not only has a heartbeat, but also the 'swishing' noise of the liquid activity the baby would have probably heard in the womb, as well.I own a few things that mimic my heartbeat for baby, but that is a first.

~ On a last note regarding sound, you are not limited to an I-pod if you want to plug-in to play your own MP3s, either; anything that uses a 3.5mm plug works.I've used my Rio MP3 player an even my laptop.Nice touch in a world where it's getting all too rare to find a product that gives more than a designated I-Pod docking station.

~ The control pad, by the way, is great.Intuitive buttons, backlit with a non-intrusive blue light. When you turn the swing/sounds off, it remembers your setting next time (i.e., if you had the speed set on four, four will be what it defaults to when you press the on button next time).

~ As others have stated, the Sweetpeace plugs in to the wall. That right there sold me, as batteries for my old open-top swing practically sent me to the poor house ten years ago.Unfortunately, the vibration on the seat still uses a D battery. However, that is necessary as the seat comes off to use other places and allow for a Graco Infant Carrier to be placed for use on the swing.

~ Being able to make the seat face backward, foward, right or left as well as in three different recline positions brings MUCH variety for baby.Just when mine seems to get sick of one view/movement, a new position of the chair makes it like a whole new swing.Sanity saver.

Now, though few, I count these as cons:

~ Some of the selling points for this product are gimmicky, in my opinion.Their idea of you sleeping with the swaddling blanket to give it your smell for baby is a sweet one.But my smell is already on much stuff she's near often, namely ME.The swaddle blanket was too cumbersome and small for use with my baby, anyhow...and she is small-ish as babies go...in the 30th percentile in baby size for her age (seven pounds at birth). The teddy bear looking head support (though adorable) was too big for my newborn's head and kind of got in the way.We took it out and used two tightly rolled security blankets on each side of her body to support her instead.I recently gave the head support another chance now that she's bigger. Now it places her neck/head in an uncomfortabe position.

~ It isn't easy to move around the room like I did with the old swing.I have a small living room with lots of furniture to maneuver around, so that tends to be an issue for me.If you are tight on space and need to move the swing to another location in the room in order to store/use it, take that into consideration. It feels very sturdy though, which puts one's mind at ease.

~ The other bother is the lame attempt at activity toys for baby.Mine is only three months old and is already bored. The toy bar consists of a mirror with a rattle that can't be held, and a teether that can't be chilled and will probably still be way too fat for my baby's mouth in six months.Oh, and a third spot that looks like it should have a toy, but which actually has/does nothing.I usually just remove the toy bar all together (maybe that will change when she is older). However, when you remember that this is not an Exersaucer--it's a swing--that drawback is a small one.

This swing is not perfect, but comes very close to it.I was hesitant to buy it, but am very glad I took a chance.

About Graco
In 1942, Russell Gray and Robert Cone formed Graco Metal Products, in Philadelphia, PA. For 11 years, the firm fabricated machine and car parts for local manufacturers. In 1953, Gray left the firm, leaving Cone as sole owner. Cone decided to manufacture his own line of products, but had trouble coming up with ideas. Enter David Saint, an engineer, tinkerer, and stained glass artisan who worked for Graco. Saint, himself a father of nine, was intrigued when an associate told him how his wife would soothe their tired and cranky baby while swinging in a backyard glider swing. Acting on this inspiration, he went to the drawing board and 18 months of hard work later, the world's first wind-up infant swing, the Graco Swyngomatic, was born. Graco sold millions of Swyngomatics in the coming years, becoming one of the world's leading manufacturers of juvenile products in the process. Today, Graco is a Newell Rubbermaid company, with 1500 associates worldwide. While a half-century has brought many changes to Graco, their dedication and commitment to designing and manufacturing top-quality products remains, and continues on.

A hanging toucan and turtle are ready to take your baby for a delightful, gentle swing in a generous bucket seat that nestles her in comfort. As she swings, your baby will enjoy the sweet melodies of seven songs, the variation of five swing speeds, and the softness of the padded lion seat cover. And a secure three-point restraint system keeps her in the proper, safe position throughout.
Designed to Promote Comfort and Security for Your Baby
This swing can help soothe your baby with its rhythmic back-and-forth motion. This movement simulates a parent's comfortable rocking motion and is meant to calm your baby and encourage relaxation, making this swing ideal for preparing your child for sleep.
A Variety of Features Stimulate Your Baby's Senses
The Take-Along Swing also encourages healthy sensory development. First, the variety of different music selections stimulates your baby's auditory skills, just as the brightly colored animal friends provide visual stimulation. As your baby reaches for the turtle and toucan, he also improves his hand-eye coordination, and discovers the pleasure of physical movement.
Compact and Portable Enough to Go Anywhere
This swing is unique in that it's designed to be ultra-portable, and it's easy to pack and carry. It conveniently folds for travel, or parents can use the swing's carry handles on each side to move it from room to room without straining. Additionally, the Take-Along Swing is designed to give you easy access to your baby--simply lift up the removable toy bar and your baby is within reach.
Safety and Developmental Guidelines
This swing can safely hold a child from birth up to 25 pounds and is meant for use until your child becomes active and can climb out of the seat. It measures 25 x 28 x 27 inches (WxHxD) and includes a handy volume control.

Review of Fisher-Price Open-Top Cradle Swing

We purchased this swing for our newborn son based on the fact that my wife uses one at the daycare she works at.Perhaps the biggest selling point for us was the fact that you have the option of using a plug-in adapter or batteries.Since just about every other item used for a baby takes batteries, it was nice to finally see a product with an A/C adapter.Other features that we like are the side-to-side or front-to-back swinging option, the wonderful mobile which features up-and-down movement, and the music/rainfall noises. All of these options work independently of one another, which makes this product even more appealing. We haven't had any problem with the swinging (or lack thereof) that others seem to be having.Sure, the swing doesn't move very fast, but I don't think my son is quite ready for roller coaster speeds just yet.My son seems very content while he naps in the swing as well.

Overall, I think that this swing is an excellent purchase for anyone in the market for one. While it may not have the strongest motor, it has plenty of other options that make it a good buy.

Highly recommended.

Review of Graco Compact Infant Swing

and then it broke. Within a month of daily use, this swing developed a squeek, then a clank, then stopped completely. My 9lb, 10 week-old loved the strong swing of this model and would snooze for hours after feeding. Then, my showering, flossing days were gone as the hot-glued engine (we looked - hot glue!) could not keep up with the packaging promises. Buy something else. I'm not sure what, I'm in the market myself, but don't buy this!

Review of Fisher-Price Zen Collection Cradle Swing

I will agree with the previous reviewer that the assembly instructions leave a bit to be desired. In particular:

1. The infant seat legs can be installed backwards (and it looks like it would take a screwdriver plus a lot of elbow grease to ease the locking "tabs" back out to separate the parts again -- I was lucky and guessed right the first time)
2. There's some white foam wrapped around the inner support bars of the seat frame that have a "do not cut" sticker on them. That does NOT mean "find some other way to remove this packing material besides cutting it off".. those styrofoam pads are supposed to STAY on the bars (as cushioning since they are right next to the baby under the seat material), so DO NOT REMOVE THEM at all. The tubes are white (i.e. don't match the rest of the swing) which makes it look as if they don't belong in the assembled product at first, so it would be easy to mistakenly rip them off in the initial frenzy of unpacking.
3. Yes, the mobile plug has 3 prongs and the socket has 4, but push firmly and everything snaps together fine. The mismatch prevents the mobile from ever coming back out. Fortunately, you can't accidentally install this part backwards. :-)

As for the swing itself, it's great! I didn't think we'd really use the removable infant-seat feature, but it comes in really handy: when kiddo has a wet diaper, I can just pick up the entire chair off the swing (with baby strapped into it), walk to the room with the changing table, and put him down while prepping the wipes and new diaper. The built-in, foldover blankets are a nice touch. The "Zen" music is just new-agey versions of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and a few classic pieces, but is still less jarring than standard baby-gear music.

Switching the swing direction from side-to-side to fore-aft direction is best done by picking up the infant seat out of the socket, rotating it, and then reseating it. It is possible to rotate the chair without picking it up, but it takes a fair amount of force and would be quite jarring to any child who was actually seated in the chair during that operation.

The swinging action is smooth and quiet. There's just the tiniest bit of sway in the frame itself with each swing because of the slight gap between the legs and the sockets in the motor housing where they snap in. It doesn't bother me (i.e. there's no accompanying rattling noise and the swing is still rock-solid), and could probably easily be remedied by shimming the gap with some paper.

The mobile doesn't move on its own. And the stripe pattern on the parasols is not reproduced on the bottom which seems a bit silly to me. (i.e. you and I see a high-contrast pattern from the top, but the baby just sees a uniform brown disc of plastic from beneath -- whose visual acuity is supposed to be stimulated here anyway?) It is nice that the mobile swings out of the way. Getting the baby in and out of the swing is a breeze.

Overall, very happy with this purchase. The design, materials and operation are solid. I withhold one star because the assembly instructions really don't cut it.
